Frequently Asked Questions

ABCD stands for Ancestry, Background, Class, and Details. It represents the four steps to generate ability scores and starting traits for a Level 1 character: - **Ancestry**: Adds starting HP, Speed, languages, and 3 boosts (2 fixed, 1 free) and 1 flaw (-2). - **Background**: Grants 2 boosts (1 fixed choice, 1 free), skill training, and a skill feat. - **Class**: Grants a key ability boost (+2), starting saving throw proficiencies, and class HP. - **Details (Free Boosts)**: You choose four +2 boosts to apply to four different ability scores of your choice.

Pathfinder 2nd Edition uses a unified proficiency system. Your bonus is: Attribute modifier + proficiency bonus + item bonuses/penalties. Proficiency ranks add: - **Untrained**: +0 - **Trained**: +2 + level (+3 at Level 1) - **Expert**: +4 + level (+5 at Level 1) - **Master**: +6 + level (+7 at Level 1) - **Legendary**: +8 + level (+9 at Level 1)

In the 2023 Pathfinder 2E Remaster project, Paizo completely eliminated traditional Ability Scores (like 10, 12, 14, 16, 18) and replaced them directly with Attribute Modifiers (like +0, +1, +2, +3, +4). An ability boost simply increases the modifier by +1. This generator displays both formats for perfect compatibility.

Combat in PF2e is governed by the 3-Action economy. On your turn, you get 3 actions and 1 reaction. Actions are completely flexible; you can make three Strikes (with Multiple Attack Penalty), Stride twice and Strike once, cast a 2-action spell and shield, or use unique actions like Demoralize or Tumble Through.
